The parish church of Santa Maria de Vilamacolum has a single nave with a semicircular apse, built in two distinct stages: one in the 11th century and the other in the 12th and 13th centuries. It has undergone several reforms in later times. The most primitive part of the church corresponds to the head and a short section of the nave at the east end; the walls of the rest of the nave belong to a more advanced period within the Romanesque.
